Slipping
I have been having a cocktail or two before going to bed. I know this could lead back to full blown heavy drinking again. Going to be assessed tomorrow for SOP or IOP. So maybe that will help. Wish me luck!
As an alcoholic in recovery, for me, I
can not have alcohol present in my
home. I was grateful that in my first
25 yr marriage, after I went into recovery,
and the only person in my little family
with and addiction, alcohol didn't need
to ever be in the house again.
Now, today, married for 6 yrs, both
of us are in recovery and there for,
im blessed and grateful again that
alcohol need not ever be present in
our home.
Getting rid of the culprit, alcohol,
poison, out of my life with the help
of a recovery program taught to me
has given me my life back.
I couldn't have done it with out
help from family intervening on
me when I was unable to care for
myself, when I was powerless over
alcohol. When my sickness and
addiction to alcohol nearly robbed
me of a life I am so grateful to enjoy
today and for the past 24 yrs.
I am a good person. I was a good
person. However, I had a sickness
called addiction. Addiction that
controlled all areas of my life.
It kept me sick in mind, body and
soul.
Once I admitted I was sick with
an addiction to alcohol or in another
word, alcoholic, then I accepted that
I was sick and powerless over it.
I became willing, openminded, and
honest in all my affairs to become
healthy and happy in recovery and
life.
You can too ArtFriend.!!!!

Best of luck. Rehab of either variety sounds like a good plan and I wish you luck at your assessment...please make sure to be completely honest about your drinking now and in the past.
Even more so, though, I wish you the strength to find the will/want/acceptance of your addiction for yourself. Rehab only works completely if you are ready to let it work.

Good luck, AF! I did an IOP last summer and with just one very brief slip during an extremely stressful time, have been sober since then. It was life-saving for me and I hope it will work for you.
