I'm trying to help my brother-in-law

It started like this, He hurt his back and started taking pain meds. Now he's sniffing heroin and is gonna winde up dead. He has no insurance and says that he can't stop using due to his back pain. His life is spiraling down hill and I have to try and get him help that he says he doesn't need. What do I do?
Thanks,
JT

Hi johnny, that sounds rough. Addiction is especially cunning when it comes with a Dr's prescription and an excuse like back pain. I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you, have you checked out the Freinds and family groups here?

Hi JT,

Good idea to check Family and Friends...

I suspect that other than being supportive and offering encouragement there is not a huge amount you can do unless and until your brother accepts he has a problem.

I hope he does and can begin to sort himself out

Unfortunately, there's most likely nothing you can do to help. He can't quit unless he wants to for himself.

As long as he doesn't want help, there's not much you can do for him, other than express your concern. I would encourage you to get support for yourself.
