I am new - and ready to meet people who will help me
My name is Ruth T.... at least that is the name I have used for all of my 34 years as an active,, grateful member of Al-Anon family groups. How is it a "black-belt" Al-Anon at age 69 can find herself needing to start a new program - that of Narcotics Anonymous? - Because that is the path my Higher Power has set before me and I agreed to follow His will.
When I begin to work the Steps, Traditions and other tools of NA, I will be doing so as a total newcomer. That was my program then, NA will be my program now. I know I have a lot to learn, a lot to do, and it will not be easy. But I am ready.
First, I need friends. I have only those who lead me to use meth. I need support. I need understanding - and a push to get involved and started. This, SoberRecovery, will be my online group.
Thank you for "listening to me"

Hi Ruth, welcome to SR.
Congratulations on 34 years sober and good luck in NA.
There is a seperate Narcotics thread in SR where you can get more informed advice and encouragement from people in a similar situation to yourself .
All the best Ruth

Welcome aboard ruth - I'm glad you found us.
I'm younger than you but I was 'retired' due to illness in my 30s
Yeah I had to make some lifestyle changes too.
SR helped a lot...I also started doing something with my lif,e and all those empty hours I had, by volunteering in my community.
there is a way forward Ruth and we're here to help
