Day 1 I suppose..
i, I'm new to this.. wanted to say thankyou to everyone's posts I've read to pass the day! Everyday seems to drag on forever and I'm so impatient to feel normal again
So I decided yesterday enough was enough. I was so panicky and scared that I had suddenly stopped and felt so awful I thought was going to die! So I did a 'tapering' thing I guess and had just a swig of beer every now and then and only got through a bottle. I don't know if that was a good idea but I was scared.(Was previously on hard stuff)
So today is proper day 1 and I'm surprised how much I feel better than yesterday. Sometimes I dont even shake, comes in waves. (Worried this is temporary though)
I'm getting this weird head thing... it feels like a bowling ball on my shoulders and I get this weird pressure in my jaw. I don't feel like I'm really here, that I'm just floating about. Anyone had this? Makes doing things really difficult, get worn out and takes me forever!
This is my second time trying to get sober and I was doing so well before kicking myself. Just hope this time I can stick to my promise to myself. I want my life back! I have to remember being healthy is more important than drinking for confidence and worrying what others think of me.
Anyway, sorry so lengthy! And hi

Welcome, Billy!
I don't know about your symptoms and hope someone here can give you feedback. I do know lots of us have special difficulties at first. Some have more detox effects than others. If it gets too difficult, you might want to talk to your doc.
Good luck! I think you'll find this forum is excellent (and civil). You may find regular support if you join the June 2015 "class" since there's usually lots of posting going on there by people who are trying to get and stay sober now.

Welcome Billy and congratulations on your decision to quit. Detox almost always generates some bad symptoms, some worse than others. The first few days are usually the worst, please do see a doctor if things get too bad as withdrawals can be dangerous, and getting checked out is always a safe alternative.

Hi Billy,
Great to have you hear! With regards to detox, everyone seems to have difference symptoms so if you're worried get it checked out. I have a foggy head and it hasn't lifted yet! That being said, it seems to be a symptom of early sobriety rather than detox. The human body is an amazing thing!
Have you got a plan in place to stay sober?

Hey there BillyNM,
We are not allowed to give medical diagnosis and what not on this site. As the others have said - if it gets too much - get to ER.
Sweats, shakes, shivering, headaches, insomnia, headaches, brain fog/haze are part of the withdrawal symptoms. Brain haze - there is a thread here on SR that started yesterday that describes what some of us felt with that particulars symptom.
Congratulations on your decision to stop. Keep near and post regularly. You might want to join the class of June, if you haven't already?
Cheers,
ZAB
