Trying to quit for good
Trying to quit for good
I've had problems with alcohol in the past few years, had a few weeks- up to a month of sobriety during that time, but it always comes back.
I have a history of alcoholism in my family, and I don't want to end up like some of my relatives, so I'm trying to stop it before it gets even worse.
Any tips are welcome, or just some conversation.

Welcome!
You've posted in the "Secular Connections Forum," so I suggest you do a Google Search for "Rational Recovery" and take the "AVRT Crash Course."
There's a bunch of interesting, on-going threads here at SoberRecovery. I suggest a daily check-in with the "24-Hour Recovery Connections."

Have you checked out any local meetings? Smart has some in your area. Or, do you have access to a medical outpatient group that isn't religious or 12-step based? There's a lot of good information in books too, from Smart, Rational Recovery, Lifering, SOS, etc.
