I can drink again! Ha...

After finally getting sober after 7yrs and suffering through detox (w/o meds), I swore I never wanted to experience withdraws again. And that detox would help remind me to stay sober.

After almost 3 months of sobriety, I felt amazing. Everything was going perfect. Beyond perfect. So, I thought, I can have a drink at a special event. Week went by and I thought "see you can just have one". So I had two. Week went by and I thought "see you can control it". Then a dental procedure and no meds so, bought a small bottle to use as a pain-relieving "rinse". It was all downhill and right back to where I left off (and more). Even after a few scary moments and warnings from my family and boss. I went all out while everyone was away. "I'll stop again tomorrow".

That AV tells us we can. We can't! And getting to feel withdraws for a second time, is a reminder of why I said never again. Guess I had to slap myself and think I was better to get the truth. I can't control drinking!

(on day 3 and keeping a better journal this time!)

Welcome back Nate. My addiction talked me back into it a few times too. Be strong and reinforce hire plan and this can be your last detox ever.
