Stressing a tad
I saw my primary care provider (PCP) this morning. I haven't had a blood panel done in a long time so she insisted on it. I don't have any symptoms of a disorder or anything, but I am worried about the liver results. I don't think one can drink as heavily as I have for as long as I have and not have some effect on the liver, unless I have a platinum liver!
AF, everyone is different. I'm 50. I was a daily, heavy drinker since turning 30, except when I was pregnant. My liver panels were fine. My cholesterol and blood sugar, however, are borderline. Don't borrow trouble. As with the not drinking, take it one day at a time.
You'd be surprised how resilient our bodies can be. I drank for more than 25 years myself and the last 10 years or so literally 365 days a year and binge quantities every single day. My liver enzymes were actually elevated on my first panel, but they cleared up within a month or so.
Remember that this is just a routine that any doctor would do - and some of your other levels might be a bit off too, but that's why they do it - to figure out how to fix it if it's not right.
