day 7

I woke up this morning feeling the worst I have since I quit drinking. I feel like I am hungover. Body is sore and my vision is kind of blurry. I was never an every day drinker but was a weekend warrior. I almost feel like I have the flu. Is this normal? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, my anxiety level seems high. Thanks in advance for any advice.

That's pretty normal as far as my experience goes bdj - but if you're concerned it will do no harm to see you doctor

Congrats on your week

Hi bdj - just like Dee said, from my experience it's totally normal. I was never an every day drinker either, but when I quit 24 days ago, I think it was a good 2 weeks before I felt good again. My body just wasn't snapping back, I was groggy, felt fluish just like you are. I could barely make it through my work day a few times and I'd been sober for days. It might not help right now, but when I finally felt better and back to normal, it's helped me to remember how awful I felt and how it lingered on. Don't want to go through that again! Just ride it through - it will pass.

I like to think of it as 1 day sober 7 times. In my demented mind it makes it easier. I know I can do 1 day but not a week or a month or a year, so I just keep it at that. Thanks for all your advice.

Thanks for all the support, today was by far the worst day for me. I think my blood sugar is all over the place. I am so disgusted with myself for having to go through this. I hate alcohol more each day. I know this isn't an easy battle but I have alot more ammo for the fight this time around. Drinking is not an option anymore. Thanks for listening.
