Let Go of Limiting Beliefs

Let go of limiting beliefs

You have the power to change your life. You have the power to change the world.

You can take action, you can make a difference, and you can respond in a positive, creative way to any situation. You can do whatever must be done to live the life of your dreams.

Yet in order to do so you must first believe that you can. In order to do so you must let go of the limiting beliefs you use to hold yourself back.

Each limiting belief you have is nothing more than a thought that lives in your mind. It is a thought that has power only as long as you continue to hold on to it.

What do you believe you cannot do? Though it may be a comfortable and familiar part of your life, that belief is constantly working against you.

Just as you have chosen to hold that limiting belief, you can choose to let it go. One by one, let go of your limiting beliefs, and free yourself to make the very most of every moment.

I remember early in recovery saying often "I can't, I just can't"

Why don't you take a day without worrying about your son? "I can't, I just can't"

Why don't you just say no when he begs to come home, you know it will end in disaster" "I can't, I just can't"

Why don't you go to meetings and find a better way to live? "I can't, I just can't"

Why don't you stop letting him run your life? "I can't, I just can't"

I just couldn't call the police, I just couldn't make him leave if it was raining outside...I just couldn't....until I could.

Recovery taught me that it's okay to make decisions that are healthy for me, recovery taught me that I wasn't throwing my son out...he chose to go out when he broke the rules of my home.

Like the little engine that could...I had to change my thinking and really believe "I can!" And then do it.

Today I recognize that what held be back was fear, and when faith stepped in I found that I was free to make good decision and live my life well.

Hugs

Of all the critical life skills one needs to master if one is to experience
a great life..............letting go has got to rank very near the top.

(OK....... I was being polite/diplomatic.............it IS number ONE!)

We do what we DECIDE to do.

I am a mere 50 years young(LOL) and am finally understanding this concept.
It applies to all areas of our lives. There are so many ways to apply this in our day to day environment.
We owe it to OURSELVES to allow us to be great.
Thank you Ann!
