His face...
His face...
I came home from work to beer cans all over my bedroom and pretzels all over my bed. AH was passed out cold. This morning I asked him, "did you eat dinner last night?" He said "I had pretzels". I said "I know, they were all over the bed. You have to eat if you are going to be drinking like this every night" he looked a little stunned and of course followed up with "I didn't drink a whole lot last night". I said "hon, look at this. It looks like a drunk lives here" his face was priceless. I swear I could hear his heartbreak. He doesn't want to be like his father (a drunk) because he considers his father "a drunk". That was some kind of odd psychology I pulled I'm sure. A lot nicer than my original plans of telling him he's turning into his father. I'll have to remember this approach.

I bet he was stunned because he was expecting you to say he was like his father.
Good for you for taking the opportunity to speak your mind without engaging in a "battle".
A little change goes a long way.
