Lessons from my blind kitty

One of my little kitties is blind from birth. Her name is Katie and she is an absolute love. She doesn't know she is blind, of course. She tries to run and jump and play with the others and she misses her mark, falls and bumps into things. It doesn't deter her one iota. In fact, I think the other cats are in awe of her because she has the heart of a lion and knows no fear. She doesn't set limits on herself. She just goes with the flow, even when she falters and hits the walls. The world is her oyster!

I take a lesson from her. I have many advantages that many in the world don't have, including something as basic as sight. But I have been afforded many opportunities in my life...good health, a fantastic education, great jobs, good friends and family. So why, when I falter and fall, as we all do at times, sometimes want to inflict self- harm and go back to drinking? Why can't I be like my little friend Katie? Fall, hit walls, miss her jumps...yet she remains a friendly loving little cat, without limits? And she takes it all in stride... no sulking there!

I aspire to be like my blind kitty named Katie.

Thank you for sharing this. I try to emulate my dogs, who live in the moment. I learn a lot from my dogs and cats.

Beautiful post, ArtFriend, simply beautiful. Katie is so adorable.

Dogs and cats are truly wonderful creatures - so much we can learn from them.

Kind of funny...last night Katie jumped (or stepped) on the keyboard several times while I was online. I guess she wanted to say something!
