Hi.
Good for you! with many years active in AA I’ll say that the majority of alcoholics are very good people who have been misdirected some way or other. It’s said we are ego maniacs with low self esteem which helped contributed to our drinking to escape what we put ourselves thru.
Try to be good to yourself.

I stopped hating myself after I'd been sober a while. I no longer had a reason to hate myself.

the hating myself and self-disgust and shame started leaving/changing with ongoing sobriety.
