Day 4-First Post Here
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here for a few years now and finally wanted to introduce myself. I'm on day 4 and it's been ok. I've been reading here everyday and reading a lot of books from the books thread. Honestly, the thought of never drinking again terrifies me, but it's gotten to a point where I know I can't go on like this so I'm taking it day by day. I feel like actually posting here is a big step since I'm making myself accountable.

Welcome Cordy
I started off just reading a bunch of stories and they were a wealth of info. One thing I've learned on my several times trying to quit is the better I get to feeling the more vigilent I have to be and I have to focus harder on my sobriety. I'm only on day 17. Welcome to SR. The support here is great..
We can do this..

Hi Cordy. Nice to meet you.
I definitely think taking it a day at a time, or even an hour at a time is a good way to deal with sobriety, helps me at least!
As soon as I start leaping ahead days in advance, I freak myself out and suddenly sobriety seems like this huge obstacle, when it's a new life really!

Welcome, glad you're here.
Accountability is one of the great many sober tools we learn how to use. Good for you on posting!
I find face to face support helps a ton as well. Having a community of others here and elsewhere helped get me on the path of accountability. It was truly eye opening for me to realize I did not have to do this alone. Interaction with others is huge........
Keep coming back!!

Welcome to posting side! It can be scary to think about the future but day by day is key! I'm reading Stop Drinking now by Allen Craig. It's helped explain to me how my mind perceives alcohol and romanticizes it.
