I'm back

After almost having a year sober I threw it all away again for the millionth time. I let other people control my emotions and let it get the best of me. Been drinking again for months. Things have really looked up and I'm not sure what I'm doing to deserve it or why god is giving it to me but if I can't stop drinking I'll eventually ruin it all again. Just wanted to say hi. Day 1.

Hi Indy,
You've done the right thing - Day 1 is better than Day 0. More strength to your arm buddy!
Best Wishes

You can do this. What can you do to make it work? You said you allowed other people to control your emotions, so that's something you can work on and hopefully you will stronger in the future. I used to let my emotions take over many times and I felt I was tossed around at times. I had to learn that my emotions were just feelings and that they didn't control me. I could feel the emotion and let it go. It really works.

As Dee said, you've gotta have a plan. What you did before was successful up too a point, you stayed sober a long time. However, life sometimes gets pretty rocky and we need more tools in our tool box. For me, the combination of this website and AA has made the difference this time.

Indenia

You're here, and that's a step forward!

You didn't throw away your year of sobriety, as long as you've learned from it, you're going in the right direction :-)

When you said about other people almost dictating your feelings, I can relate to that. My most recent "slip" was partly due to this factor. I definitely need to work on that.

We are all here to support each other, stick around :-)
