How much joy will you allow?

Well kids, it's been way too long since we did a fun thread.
So here's the deal.
Gabe is giving you a virtual $5,000.00 to go off and have whatever fun time you want to have.
You must report back as to where you went and what you spent you dollars on.
No Codie spending on others.
This is ALL ABOUT YOU.
I expect (yes, I said expect) to hear great things from all of you.
Now, go forth and consume in true materialist fashion.

Gabe,
How fun! How hard! No codie spending on others? How did you know I'd try that?

Taking the money, thanks. Be back soon!

Well, there is a class trip in May I really want to go on. I will graduate with my 8 yr four year degree. It costs $2400. It is to Rome, Florence, Greece, and a few other places to study art.

Ok. I need clothes. Single mom in Europe, gotta look good! $500

Did that include shoes? nope. $200

Hmm, on me? Oh my hair! $100

New makeup- $100 Many shades of fancy lip gloss and eyeliner.

I need a companion.....the pug I have always wanted! $300.

And clothes for Elbo (the pug) $200

Some jewelry might be nice. $500 (some to be spent on the trip of course)

and the last $700 will be spent on really good art supplies, good food, and a FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE AT A ACTUAL THEATER THAT IS NOT A CARTOON!

Thanks Gabe!

That was fun, I needed that.

A fellow traveler,
Angela

First of all... $80.00 - spot in the Portland marathon
New running shoes and socks for marathon $100
New running clothes $150

Collar that zaps my dog when he barks at the neighbors (please no animal cruelty scoldings -I'm using virtual money here!) - $80

Oooo! Lobster for dinner for a week - $200 (I'll cook it myself)

New clothes $500

Wind Surfing lessons $250

New Backpack and camping gear $750

Weekend in Yachats at my favorite little place in the world. $700

a shopping spree at Powell's bookstore $200

And if I've done the math right I have $1900 dollars left for a trip to Mexico!

Can I have the real thing now? the dog won't stop barking!

Oh this codie will have nooooo problems spending the $5000. First I would gas up the Codie bus, and head straight for New Orleans, someplace I have never been and always wanted to see.

Book me in at a fabulous hotel, and let me while away the hours listening to great jazz and blues, and sampling all the Creole cooking this city has to offer. A tour of the plantations, a day on the bayous, a riverboat trip up the Mississippi and visiting some of the local history would make me smile.

Throw in a day at the spa, a shopping spree for a couple of new outfits, shoes, bags and a trip to the jewellers for something weighed in carats (I am a definite gold person!!), and I would have just enough to gas up the bus and get back here.

Fork it over Gabe!!! I'm already packed. ARGHHHH, did she say CYBER???

N'Awlins Hugs

Gabe,
Wow, this is a hard one...!!! How much joy will you(I) allow!!!???!!! I'm sitting here reading through the posts...analyzing everything to death...wondering why can't I be happy...thinking about what a perfectionist I am...I'll be happy if....!!! Then I come upon your post...hmmm? Ok, I know what I would like to buy with the money...Does anyone know where I can purchase some PEACE and CONTENTMENT for my SOUL??? LOL
Maybe just maybe I need to just have some FUN? Take a break from thinking so much.......LOL So I think I'll take some time today to daydream about what I would do with that $$$??? Maybe even just do something childlike...like take a walk with the kiddies in the rain??? or.........fingerpaint......or color...or.......???????? I think this discontentment does stem from my wanting to do everything PERFECT........grrrrr! That feeling of wanting to excepted by (my mom) ? grrrrr....why is it so hard to decide what to do with the money????
Well, anyhow, thanks for the post...got me thinking
bye for now, Serenity777

Easy one, Gabe.

First class plane ticket to Vegas, suite at the MGM, the rest goes into the slots.
I could possibly even make some money & pay you back.

If you want to make this an un-virtual investment, I'll give you double or nothing & PM you my address.

I take it I'm not allowed to pay bills or fix the car?

Does others include my cat? I want to buy her one of those carpet covered kitty cottages with the carpet covered tree standing by it on the carpet covered lawn. They are so cute.

Now I'm stuck. I think I want to just not work for a month. Is that okay? Oooh Oooh! I will hire an accountant to do my stupid paperwork. YEAH!

Smoke, paying bills and fixing the car count as spending it on you. You may not pay anyone else's bills or fix anyone else's car. You may now pass Go and collect $200 more dollars.

Oh Gabe, thank you. I just went to Italy and found me the most romantic Italian hunk. And guess what?? He doesn't drink. He doesn't even like the smell of it. And best of all he's a doctor and makes lots of money so I can quit my yucky night job at the Post Office. Life is good again thanks to you!!

Oh WOW Gabe I sure can use this now!!!!

First I will pay off the smaller bills in my name only.... amount $2400.
Then I would pay back a friend that loaned me money recently...$1000.
After that I would fix the things wrong with my car(in my name only) and get new tires....$400.
Next I would buy some new work shoes $100.
Now I am ready to buy some new clothes without having to go only to the sales racks and reduced items.....$500.
Last but not least I will take the remaining money and spend it on having a super time next month when I go to see my Mom in northern NY( every time I go I never have hardly any money)....$600.
Total amount spent.....$5000.00
LOOK ON MY FACE......PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU GABE!!

I'm guessing I'd spend about $1500 on a new horse and saddle and then horsey and I would use the rest to find our way to a nice quiet beach where we could ride til sunset everyday. Anyone have a guess as to how long we could stay there on $3500 if we lived in a horse trailer and a tent??? I'm betting a month on the beach will improve my state of mind 100%, thanks for the bucks Gabe, I'm feeling saner already!
