Day 8 & Prom

I'm on Day 8 and feel good. The nagging stomach pains are gone, my skin looks good, I'm sleeping well (actually a bit more tired but not in a bad way).
Today, my twins are going to their first prom. They are so excited and I'm happy to be a part of it...without a hangover.
This is what Im enjoying about sobriety: The moments Im truly present for.

I got asked on a date last night. My stomach clenched. I said no. I'm not ready to date. I'm not ready to explain why I don't drink. I'm still getting to know myself and I'm not ready to share with anyone. I fell asleep at a normal hour and woke up without regret.

It's only been 8 days. Drinking still crosses my mind. I shut it down and work my plan. Something finally clicked and I'm ready for this!!

It's probably a good idea to say 'No', to dating at this point. You will know when you feel ready. I hope your twins have fun.

I agree!! I have been meditating for a few months now which helps me really listen to myself. The stomach clenched, panicky feeling isn't normal nervous energy. It's a big red flag waving. I'm listening now.

I'm not ready to share any part of myself with anyone in an intimate way. I don't even mean sex. I'm in a place of healing and so I need to be on my own for that.
I finally give a damn about myself and I'm not ready to risk that.
