Definition of alcoholism

I ran across this today and it speaks volumes.

"I knew I was an alcoholic by the way I felt sober."

Yup. Drinking cured my sobriety symptoms, but eventually created worse ones.

Here's an interesting question: What are the symptoms of sobriety for an alcoholic compared to one who is not an alcoholic?

I learned this after coming in the rooms.......

I suspected I might be an alcoholic when I spent considerable time googling key words/phrases - alcoholism, depression from drinking, online alcoholism tests, recovery methods, the easy way to stop drinking, am I really an alcoholic, my wife - kids - job - life made me an alcoholic, cirrhosis, alcohol poisoning, suicide........

I was restless, irritable, and discontent. There was always a whole in who I was and no matter how much I drank it never seemed to get filled. The world had turned against me and there did not seem to be a way out.

Today the promises have come true.
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and selfpity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Hi.
For me the definition is someone who cannot drink alcohol in safety or someone who cannot guarantee the outcome of having the first drink. Not medically correct but simple explanation.

BE WELL
