What's stopping you from finding things to do?

Boredom is a prison of your own making. And you hold the key to getting out.

Yup, I found a jillion things to do tht are fun and not boring. As said by doggonecarl, it's all up to me to decide whether something's boring and Boring is of my making. Change my attitude and something that used to be boring is no longer boring.
Finding things to do required me to get into action. I got into some hobbies I did while drinking, but never really followed through. Even picked up some new ones.
Today I'm going out and firing up my chainsaw and making some big pieces of wood smaller. Might be boring to some, but not to me.

Congrats on 7 months!

The "what to do" thread link is always worth posting again

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ething-do.html

But basically, you can do whatever you want to do. The only difference is that now that you aren't drinking there are actually MORE things that you can do. When drinking , we cannot ( or at least should not ) drive - limiting pretty severely our available options. Sober you can go wherever you want, whenever you want without worry. When drinking, our capacities to do many other things are diminished too - again limiting us to what we can do and where we can do it.

What things have you changed in your life besides stopping drinking? Recovery is an ongoing process and I think that finding things to do that you enjoy is very important.

I had to change my life, cos my old like was all about drinking..I had to drink to make it tolerable.

That's no life for a sober guy.

Do you have any hobbies or interests? anything you always wanted to do?

My hobbies for the past few years have been drinking. It's the only thing that I look forward and wanted to do.

Last night I cleaned up, read a book and paid some bills. Simple things that I ignored due to drinking.

I now all about being bored and that was my excuse to drink. Now I have to force myself to new thing to escape boredom and drinking.

Best of luck

I used to sit on the couch drinking and I was sitting on the couch sober and wondering why I was bored and felt empty.

Think about what you realistically want your life to be like - then go out and build it
