Day 3 and in detox
Hey Guys,
Hoping not reach complete rock bottom but I'm not far off at the moment. Drank an incredible amount of alcohol on Sunday 22nd March, woke up on the 23rd still drunk and made a solemn promise never to do it again.....until the withdrawals started. Uncontrollable shaking, sweats, palpitations, you know the deal. When I started hallucinating I panicked and called an ambulance. Very reluctantly they agreed to take me in, the first advice was to taper down until I told them I could barely walk let alone go buy more vodka, besides I'd never get served with shaking hands. It's now day three and the symptoms are only just abating.
My wife won't let me see the kids, I've been off work for three months and they are losing patience. My Gran is in late stage cancer and I haven't been to see her.
I WILL do it this time, I have no choice. I'm never drinkinga again and I'll never change my mind!
Thanks for listening

Glad to hear you are getting the help you need Chaostar. Learn as much as you can about the resources available to you after you get out of detox....this is a great step for you but only the very beginning of your work. Hope you can keep us in the loop while you are still there and definitely when you get out.
Congrats for calling an ambulance. Now that's what I call taking care of yourself! Continue to take care of you so that you can be the best person you can be for your family.

Thanks for the kind responses everyone.
Recovery plan is visiting this site at least twice a day, reading and posting, I'm going to give Rational Recovery a good go and use the motivation to get access to my children back. AA was not for me, I'm not knocking it, it has saved thousands but it doesn't resonate with me.
Almost end of day 3 so I never have to go through the hell of day one again.
Good luck to everyone who is suffering. It seems impossible but it WILL get better, however slowly.

Day 4 of sobriety but now the real test starts because I'm being discharged today. I'm both happy and terrified at the same time!
Feeling positive but I know that AV will be screaming at me, especially since I need to go shopping later and EVERY shop in the UK sells booze with the spirits always behind the counter so I can't even avoid it when I pay.
I'm not giving in, especially one day after detox!!
Thanks for listening
