Hi i am here to make a change in my life for many reasons related to alcohol abuse. This is my 2nd day sober and I have decided to make this forum my new addiction and leave alcohol behind.
I am a middle aged male and very lucky to have a very patient wife.Being middle aged I believe I can also be helpful to others because of my long history with this problem.
It has taken a lot to break me enough to want to leave alcohol.I want to believe I am not looking back.
You should expect to see me here a lot.
I have been in the chat room and I want to thank all for being so kind and understanding.I have a lot of problems now but I know I am a good person who has made bad decisions. I was given advice to take it day by day and not to beat myself up so much and that's about where i am at.
At this point I do not have enough posts to respond to messages so I am not ignoring anyone.
Thank you for your support.

Hi and welcome.
It’s interesting that the process of getting sober and staying sober is simple. We just don’t have the first drink one day at a time in a row. I did not say it’s easy, it’s doable if we are honest with our self about our drinking and accept the fact we cannot drink alcohol in safety.
During and well after that we work on and change the deep reasons we drank, usually trying to escape our many feelings.
Millions have accomplished sobriety giving it some effort.
BE WELL

Welcome Dayone! Tons of support within this community.
You have the power to create a better life for yourself and your family. You've taken the first step... Congrats on day 2!
Your future is a blank slate at this point. As other's have said, don't beat yourself up for the past and concentrate on a sober today. Be successful in your sobriety and the past will not repeat itself.
You can do this.
Best of luck, we are here to help.
