the butterfly project
the butterfly project
i was thinking about an idea that i have taken from a self injury distraction and coping strategy its goes like this draw a butterfly on your arm and keep it on your arm the butterfly dies if you cut or for us use or drink when the butterfly has faded draw another one and do that for as long as you want
its dont have to be a butterfly it can be anything
people who have done this find it very useful and helps them to not cut unsure if anyone here will find it helpful
this explanes it better than me

Oh, I've done something like this in early sobriety with henna tattoos, different symbols that I liked. They last a bit longer, and my idea was that I can't drink before the image is gone because that would break my commitments expressed in each symbol, things that only I knew what they meant to me.
I had no idea others with addiction problems came up with similar "projects"
Then I got a real tattoo for my one-year sober anniversary, that is similarly a work-in-progress now.
