Back to square one.

Thanks for the replies to my post last night. Woke up not feeling great but resisted the urge to start again first thing this morning. Drank entirely too much last night and m tolerance isn't what it used to be. Having trouble posting keep getting a blank screen. Not gonna drink tonight

Hi Dave. I'm on day 2 of sobriety myself. I felt like absolute crap all day yesterday from too much drinking on Saturday night (of course, even a drop of booze is too much!).

Dave, I had a love/hate relationship with booze for some 30 years. First I was a normal drinker - just 1 or 2 drinks and not very often. Then my man and I started drinking beer and wine every day. It was our lifestyle and we thought we were normal. I built a tolerance and started drinking stronger things like scotch to get a buzz. I often drank too much and was very hungover. Needed a drink in the morning or at least left work at lunchtime to have a drink. Then I started having blackouts and missing work. My family put me in treatment.

I learned this in treatment. My body was so dependent on alcohol that I needed it to function. Without it I couldn't think right and I felt out of sorts, even depressed. To keep me from falling into it again, they put me on Antabuse and I had to go to outpatient therapy for a long time. It took a good six months to finally feel better. Sleeping was hard. I remember laying in bed thinking, "I'm safe and warm", like a mantra. Eventually things got easier.

Stick with sobriety Dave and life will get better. Keep coming to SR. Maybe seek a treatment program or go to AA meetings. Those things helped me and I learned to love myself again. Keeping in touch with supportive people is extremely important. It keeps your head in the right place.

If your tolerance has decreased, that isn't good.

Google "reverse tolerance to alcohol."

Maybe see a doctor, too.

Well I think my tolerance decreased because I was sober for 2 and a half months

Well done Dave - you came staight back and posted rather than carry on drinking so it's just a blip when you take the long view

Maybe what Donna57 said about Antabuse (amongst other insights) might be useful.
I'd never heard of it until I joined SR so I've no experience but if it helps well why not try it - subject medical advice obviously
