Tests for sobriety
Ok.. Here we go. All today
Long day at work with very difficult students.. Too much paperwork and feel like I'm folding under the pressure.. Can't help feeling all the student disruption is a direct reflection of my chaos.
Collected my **** latebfrom nursery to then reverse into another car in a near empty car park. Scratched bumpers and exchange Insurance details.
Get to care home. My mum very ill now. Confined to bed.. Lucid but very weak.. What next? On the week I swore never to drink. Day 4 still sober. Heading home for a long hug from wife I hope.

Same as what Carlotta said. Life happens. We just become better at handling it without drinking. It's very hard at first but well worth it. When I first got sober my head was lost in the clouds and everything was fuzzy. I was clumsier and didn't pay attention to what was going on. It does pass. Good for you on four days.
I'm sorry about your mother. Hang in there.

Thanks everyone.. The irony was as I reversed in the dark I was fiddling with aa speakers on bluetooth in my car.
My poor mum.. Too painful to talk about.. But she is lucid still and I love her very much.. And I'm getting some time with her.
I realized that if something had happened last Thursday night I would have been incapable of attending.

Sorry to read about your mother. It's great that you can be with her and, as you pointed out, she needs you to be sober.
More broadly, bad days happen, but drinking is not going to make them any better.
