when I was with my xabf, he had a fight with one of my dearest friends. Of course I took the bf's side. Long story short, it was drug and alcohol fueled mess. Tonight I had a chance to make amends with my old friend and start over. I have lots of people to apologize to from this period. One thing I have learned is what a real friend is and I will never take that for granted again!

Kudos to learning what a good friend really is!

So help me understand this a little. Are you making amends that you have an ABF? Or amends that you took his side and not theirs? Or that they were subjected to his abuse? Or that there was a fight in the 1st place?

I know many in Al-Anon follow the making amends approach. I'm just trying to figure out what you did that requires amends.

Hey, HBT!

I made an amends that I took the side of my xabf when I knew that their fight was drug and booze ruled and my bf was being weird and paranoid. My friend was drunk too(has since sobered up on his own). There were no innocents in this one, but I didn't call out my bf's on his nonsense. My friend was hurt beyond belief. We were friends years before the bf came along. So me and my friend had a good cry last night. I stayed silent while he let it all out of his system and we vowed never to let this type of this happen again.

Actually my friend is a guy, but as close to a girl with a mustache as you can get some days.
