Got out of Jail 2 weeks ago battle is begining.

Hey I'm new and have been using Tumblr to write/type how I've been feeling but I really get no feedback so I'm glad I found you guys. Currently feeling lonely and angry and don't know where to turn. Hopefully I can find some people who are serious about recovery here.

I'm heroin addict and I'm coming up on 5 months this month. I count my incarceration. I worked on my self a lot this time around while I was in and I feel very good most days since I've been out just looking to build more support.

I've spent 20 months of the last 25 months in Jail overdosing when I got out after 151/2 months. I should have been dead but my own mother found me thank god but she has never been the same since...

I'm lost some days... hopefully I can come here for some help. ... thanks. The battle is real.

Welcome, KDP!

I have no experience with opiate addiction, but there are many recovering addicts who post experience, strength and hope regularly here and in the Substance Abuse forum.

It works if you work it--read around and post often.

Hey buddy, I'm an ex-boozer myself but you sure can have any support I can give. I'm so glad you lived... So many don't with heroin.

Welcome to SR man. You'll find lot of support here.. much better than Tumblr. Post often and people will give you all the feedback you need. I look forward to reading some of your posts. Hang in there!

Post often try to get real help from a sponsor at NA. Follow what successful people do and don't do what you have been doing. One day at a time I got a sponsor and worked to do the things he did.

Hi KDP glad you found us. And very happy your Mom found you when she did. I'm sure she would have been even more changed if she didn't find you in time.

When you get out get support right away - anyway you can. Meetings, sober friends, your Mom and stay comitted - life is very much worth living.

Thank you for that reading. It's very sad, and I'm so grateful to be alive today.

Welcome! I am a Mom of a 24 year old heroin addict. He had to go to medical detox and had terrible abcesses which needed attention. He also has spent tons of time in jail and would come out clean, go to rehab and relapse. I support your desire to find freedom from this terrible disease. I would hate to ever find my son unresponsive. He has almost OD'ed several times on his own. He is now in Salvation Army, and I pray that its his bottom. Read and share here and find a sponsor. We are all rooting for you!
