AV talking

So I just picked up my step son and his mom offered me a beer. I replied, we quit drinking. But now ever since, I'm thinking, I can have a few. It's Friday. But I know what will come. There's a battle going on in my head. Thinking, they can have a few, so I can. I've been going good until now. I don't know what to do. I really want a few beers

Read back over some old posts Jillian. Thats what drinking does.

You have the AV on the run now...don't second guess yourself

Not worth it! Don't test yourself- you don't have to. You know you don't have to drink and you know how it plays out if you do.

Keep going, you are doing GREAT.

D is spot on this is 100% AV and yes it wants the drink YOU do not want to drink

That should be a massive red flag for you DO NOT listen to your AV try this to help http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-cravings.html

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...e-surfing.html

Please believe me when i say in time your AV will get less & less do not feed into it

Remember why you got sober use your acceptance as a tool here play the tape till your unwell or worse

Can you phone a trusted friend ?

Hang in there Jilliab2563,

It's tough in the beginning but drinking will just make you feel like crap again.

Maybe try to find something to do to take your mind off it?

I'm rootin' for you and I know you can do it

Thanks every one. I'm at home now. Didn't have money to buy any anyway. But my husband and I are about to go to grocery store for dinner for the kids. I feel safer now that I'm home. I didn't think I would have a problem out and about where there was drinking but I guess I was wrong.

Fantastic, well done.

Think how bad you would have felt if you woke up tomorrow with a hangover and how good you will feel when you wake up having been sober

I'm only 60 something days sober myself so I'm no expert but it does get easier eventually

Congratulations Jillian! Every time you fight through it, it gets easier. But wise not to push yourself. I still get uncomfortable sometimes and I've got 15 months.

Hang in there! You're doing great.

I went back - thought I could have a few and it escalated. Don't go back - it will get worse.

Great job on pushing through!!

For me when my mind says "I can have a few", the response is always, "why? what has changed?" . . . and the answer is nothing, no period of abstinence will ever create new results or a different outcome!!

Thanks sober wolf. We actually didn't get to watch it as my 10 year old was with us and didn't seem appropriate. If I had been drinking, I wouldn't have even cared.
