want to drink

Yesterday was my b day it was OK. Some situation that happen in the past was brought up today. It was a life altering situation. Every time I have want to move forward with my girlfriend of 6 years this comes up. So I told her how I felt and she broke up with me. I honestly don't get a f about it. I'm just pissed off at her I realized I had so much anger towards her even though I love her. I can't forgive her. Her act first and think later almost destroyed my life. As if alcohol wasn't already threat as well. I don't know if I'm not going to drink

Hope you don't drink, Quiet Hero. There is no situation that drinking won't make worse

Power through this.

Happy Belated Birthday!

That sucks. It really does but I hope you choose a different way to deal with these feelings.

After you take that drink......the situation is still the same. So what will drinking do for you & the situation? Nothing.

I don't know about you, but I'm 33 days quit and still limiting my interactions with people and definitely not making any life decisions. I don't trust my thinking or judgment yet. Don't know when that day will come but I hope I'll know.

I understand how you feel. I had a moment of wanting to drink yesterday due to emotions. But I didn't. Do you really want to drink or do you want the pain to go away? Drinking will only make the pain worse. You can push through this.

Happy birthday. I'm sorry you are having a hard time right now.

I don't think I'd give up my sobriety for her or how I feel about her.

The truth of the matter is that NOW is the time to stay sober. If you put it off until tomorrow, you will want a drink even worse than you do today. And none of your problems will be solved, although it is very possible that things will be worse.

I don't think you know this for a fact. It may be your plan, your desire...to drink and get back on the sober bus. But you are compromising with your addiction. Who knows when you'll stop. Or if you'll stop.

I've read two posts today from folks who gave in to drink "this one time" and have returned here months after that relapse, having returned to daily drinking.

Don't risk it.

And you haven't answered the question. How will drinking change your situation?

Use all the tools!!! Play the tape, step out of yourself and visualize the situation from the AVRT point, do it all. This feeling will pass!!!

You are going through something so you want that drink, but flex your sobriety muscles and you will be stronger. YOU can do it man!!!

Stay strong QH. I used to say one day wouldn't hurt either. Each time I said that I spiraled out of control in a matter of days. Sometimes it took one week to get back to heavy, daily drinking, sometimes it took a little longer... but it always ended the same. At least for me, moderation definitely has no place in my life.

Just don't drink. What ever situation you are facing in life, drinking will not make it better, make it go away or make it any easier to deal with.

Stay strong, you can do this.

I love this. It may be reason #394 not to drink, but it is still a good reason. Congratulations on showing that AV who the real boss is. I am inspired by your strength.

Well done.

After 8 weeks sober time, I went out for one night drinking in 2004. Had every intention of starting again the next day.

I didn't stop drinking for another 2 and a half years - some of the most destructive drinking I've ever done.

take nothing for granted.

I'm sorry for your pain and sadness but drinking not going to fix it.

You'll sober up, the pain will still be there and the temptation to drink again will be very great.

Drinking at someone is pretty futile too. You're the onle one who ends up hurt.

Make a good choice today QH
