an opinion to preface with
To alter ones state of mind and or chemical balance is an action all humans will do at least once in their lives. Spinning yourself silly as a child, being given cold medicines, runners high, sugar, caffeine (the prior two much more relevant over past few generations), alcohol, pain meds, all the other bs as well....
Unfortunately the evolution of power and government has turned into decades of perfecting the manipulation of this tendency (see. the 'give the baby the bottle to take it away' strategy (heroin, morphine, cocaine, mdma ALL getting their start in the 'medical' field)).
The unconstitutional war on drugs was meant to allow for the necessity of spending void left by the end of the cold war AS WELL AS a way for many to accept incremental losses of liberty.
my story
Grew up around addiction, parents were split before conscious memory (drugs plagued them both before, during and after the relationship's demise)
watched dad take some of his last breaths as he lied on the bathroom floor, watched the prism of what addiction does to us on SO many levels. I am happy to have gone through all but one of the previously mentioned vices, I am happy to have met my demon face to face in several facets. I HOPE to finally learn.
I am lucky to have had the face to face with this devil BEFORE using so in a really unfortunate way, thanks dad.
I miss ya, so if there is a way you see this please don't take that the wrong way. I should have taken the lead and called the ambulance.
My addiction to a runners high was much more fulfilling than my addiction to alcohol, crack, coke, pills.
I am trying to get back to being to addicted to mile 18 of a marathon...
not to the initial blast of a cheap thrill.
My actions have inhibited me as well as inebriate me when I am weak but have me on point, balanced and healthy when strong. Am I running 5 miles at night or smoking crack until 5am?
