...
It's just been an awful day, week even. I am close to the edge. I am close to doing things that will ruin me... No distractions are working. Friends and family are not here to support me. I need someone.
Awful days happen. Awful weeks even. Sobriety doesn't give us a pass on the bad days. What it gives us, we hope, thanks to the tools of recovery, it a way to deal with those crummy days without "...doing things that will ruin me" as you put it.
You may tell yourself that drinking/drugging will make a bad week better, but you know that isn't true. And you should know that your addiction doesn't really care about whatever misery follows the short-lived pleasure you seek.
