hopeless

I had to drop my 22 year old daughter at motel to get her out of my house. she has been out of rehab(heroin)for just over a week and back at it. The anxiety of watching her on drugs was killing me. I have told her I cant help her anymore, this is not our first time through this, she has nothing and claims she will have to sell herself to live. I guess this is tough love.

Welcome to SR. So sorry to learn of your difficult times. I have children that age. It must be gut-wrenching.

I have no advice, but as the father of a 22 year old daughter my heart aches for you.

Winter67,

Glad you found us. You'll find lots of support here. Sometimes it is what you have to do for yourself. Hoping she can find the resources for herself, too. Sending prayers for you both. A hug for you.

I am very sorry for what you are going trough. Hopefully your daughter will turn things around. Not enabling her must be such a hard call. But I think you are doing the right thing.

Prayers your way, and your daughter.

Sending hugs and prayers for you and your daughter. I had to kick out my son and he did initially choose rehab, but then after several relapses, he too lost everything and now must deal with his reality of being back in detox and homeless. They say it takes multiple times to hit the bottom and rehab is only a tool. What I have learned in the last 5 years is no matter what I think the bottom should be for JJ, his reality is much different. You have to take care of your health as heroin addiction robs the person of having empathy, guilt or any other emotion that will stop them from using. It is a living Hell to watch our children continue to use.
