In nearly 14 months of not drinking....
In nearly 14 months of not drinking....
I have deepened my spirituality
Deepened my emotional experience
Increased my awareness
Become more present
Am better able to Love
Am feeling more confident
Have left significant anxiety and depression behind
Know myself more closely
Have begun developing and fostering compassion and empathy - for myself and others
Have not been sick or ill or hungover or even had a bad cold
Have more energy
Have remembered everything I've done
Am free of regrets and shame
Have cleared my wrongs as I've acknowledged them
Am becoming increasingly free
And as of this past week - have gotten a pretty great new job, a new start, new energy....
And also gotten engaged.

Congratulations FreeOwl! Just from what you've posted here I think it's incredible how much you've been able to change your life for the better in just over a year. You're awesome and I hope every day in your sobriety brings a new gift to you :-)
FreeOwl, with just a few tweaks to your post, I could have written the same thing that you did. Right down to the engagement part.
I consider myself to be very fortunate to have gotten sober while I still have a fair amount of life to live. Getting sober was challenging, but the benefits you list require no effort whatsoever, do they? They just sort of fall into place as a happy consequence of sobriety.
Congratulations on reaching 14 months. I am grateful that you have been a part of my sober journey here at SR.
