survived the party
Well yesterday I had so many temptations to drink. But every time I came close took myself off to the loo and thought about SR and keeping my AV at bay. Family party everyone ended up very drunk but I still had fun. No hangover today and can remember everything that happened and not embarrassed or having to apologise for anything. It definitely wasn't easy but I'm feeling like I got through a major hurdle.
Congrats on making it through!
Your post title got me thinking how twisted our language becomes when we are addicted (and trying to break free). "Survived the party" - as if not drinking somehow puts us closer to death's door than drinking used to.
Not finding fault - I used the same language. I survived the weekend (sober). I survived the business trip (sober). Etc. I was always much more fortunate to have survived those things as a blackout drunk than I was after I started living a sober life.
Now that I am free I can see that my addiction had stolen my mind and twisted my perceptions. I don't survive weekends or parties or business trips anymore. I enjoy them!
Keep up the hard work!

It was my mum's 70th and a chance to see my 3 year old niece who doesn't live in this country so definitely wouldn't have avoided it. May avoid any more drunken gatherings for a while though!
My gf's mum turned 70 this weekend aswell
Congrats Oswin
