Old School (ing)
Many years back I left college unfinished - got married, raised children and lived a blur of a life due to alcohol abuse. Over the years I became engaged in an industry that it did not make a difference if my schooling was finished.
However, this lack of completion has always bothered me. For over 30 years I have only needed one class to complete my degree
Occasionally, I would have dreams I was back in college and enrolled in classes only to awake.....
In recent sobriety, I decided to mark it off my list. It was a maze working through the bureaucracy of the original University I attended - transcripts and original college catalog were on mico film. They had to be locate -
The class I needed to take had to be approved etc....3 months hassle back and forth.
I persevered and today I took my final exam in my last class to attain my undergraduate degree. Taking this class has reinvigorated my thirst for school - Who knows, maybe I will apply to graduate studies!
I wanted to share this with my friends here and for those newcomers like me that wonder if they can finish some things they started before alcohol took over......What on your sober horizon!???
Yes, Anything IS possible!
Even for the this Old Skool dude

That's a sensational story Flynbuy, and an awesome achievement - congratulations!
I've only started to feel the strength and life begin to return to me after putting my body through something horrific. What I am looking forward to most on my sober horizon is to make it up to my body - begin eating properly again, playing lots of basketball, and lifting weights. My bucket list is full of experiences I want to enjoy as well as places I want to travel to (swim with whales in North Queensland, visit Machu Picchu, etc), but one of my predominant ones has always been to attain a level of health where I always feel full of energy, strong, and vibrant. I feel now that I can finally start taking the small steps on the long road to achieving that dream.
Thanks for sharing mate.
