Is there a difference between online alanon and face to face meetings
I've been logging in on line recently to attend alanon meetings but i don't know if how they run is the same as face to face meetings. Everyone is invited to share and then we all say thank you, but no one seems to give advise or discuss what someone has shared.
Is this the same with face to face meetings??

Meetings are for sharing your issue but generally people don't give advice or discuss something someone has shared unless they turn it into a Topic. With that then people share their experiences with that situation.
Usually the rest is done with your sponsor.

Giving advice or directing comments to a specific member is considered "cross talk" and most groups don't do it during their meetings. People share their experience, strength and hope in general terms. You are always free to talk directly with each other before or after meetings. Some of my best "meetings" have been in the coffee shop after the meeting!

Give it a go. Nothing to lose by doing so.
