What a difference a day makes
OK, actually 19 days but I'm amazed how far things have improved.
I started my journey hating myself. I had panic and anxiety. But there was no way I was giving in.
Yesterday I had a totally anxiety free day. Just over a week ago I had a job interview - I was agitated all the way through but didn't show it. I've just heard I have the job. It's working from home so no pressure to 'hurry up' and get over any anxieties I do have left - I can do it at my speed.
I am starting evening classes week after next and can actually afford to take my son to Orlando in October (Disney junkie but not been since 1997).
All of those is only possible because of achieving sobriety.
If you are struggling please stick with it. The benefits FAR outweigh the negatives!!

Hi Esspee, Good for you. You're doing great. I'm about 7 weeks sober and I cannot believe how my confidence is increasing daily. I have never felt so balanced before. I always drank alcohol at least every couple of days since I was 16. I'm finally realising the proof of what I had heard. That alcohol actually increases anxiety and depression. It doesn't fix anything. Hang in there and enjoy!
I have to admit - I used to get super jealous of people who had positive results within just a few weeks of getting sober. Took me a few months to get the results I wanted. Now that I am free from alcohol I am also free to be happy for others who are succeeding on their sober life journeys. Even at a pace that was faster than mine.
Well Done!

There is a part of me that feels guilty for having such a quick first stage to my recovery as I know others are suffering so much more. Strangely enough I've had the shakes a couple of times in the past few days. Not a lot, but just enough to make me look at my hands as if they don't belong to me !
One disadvantage - strange way to term it but I don't know how else to say it - of my journey is that I don't feel my advice is as valid as other peoples as I've only experienced a small amount of what others have gone through.
