40 days today, anxiety still here.
Hi,
I have 40 days clean now. The first few weeks were awful but it's somewhat better. I am still having bad anxiety at random times, I wish it would just stop. I was a few times a week binge drinker for about 15 years. I will say besides the anxiety I have been feeling pretty good. I am supposed to go on a ski trip with my wife Friday and I am afraid I will get bad anxiety at the airport. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for listening.
Jack

Some tips here: Anxiety-Prevention
Hey SVA -
I think you'll be okay on the ski trip, but I also know how anxiety works and it's certainly an elephant on your shoulder in some cases. Try not to over-think or try and imagine too many scenarios about the trip...don't over-focus on the little things. Think about something easy, like what you might pack. Gas up the car on Friday. Etc. Remember that you enjoy the slopes and think about how much fun it is to whip down the hill.
I used to have such terrible anxiety after getting sober that even a trip to the grocery store was a big event. But I survived each trip, much to my surprise! Keep getting out there, and keep moving forward. In my experience, I saw my doctor (and I was anxious about that, of course) and it turned out to be a great decision. Good luck to you no matter which road (or run) you take! Most importantly, stick to your decision to remain sober, you're doing great and don't forget it.

Forty days is huge - great job.
I had horrible anxiety at first. I learned to surf the anxiety by breathing deeply and evenly, and repeating my mantra "This will pass, this will pass." And it always does. Like when I quit smoking I understood that the nic fit would pass whether I had a cigarette or not.
Good luck, and a visit to the Doc can't hurt either!

Thank you everyone, I hope I feel better soon and make it through the airport okay. At least I really feel alcohol is the last thing I need. I was using it as what I thought was a crutch for so long when really it was causing most of my problems.
My wife has been great but I don't think she quite understands the anxiety since she can't really see any physical symptoms.
