Unhappy Friend died yesterday from alchohol

He struggled for the past 10 years... moved around a lot, lost jobs, marriage etc. Ended up living with his mother, then she died. So he came back to Texas to live with his son. Was doing OK for a few months, then over the weekend just went on a bender. Never woke up yesterday morning. 62 yo.

Another reason (like we need one right?) to stay away from that crap.

So sorry to hear it.

I am age 53. It's a time when old friends who didn't stop partying like lunatics are dying off. I've lost three in the last couple of years.

Choose life.

Second post this morning about someone losing their life to alcohol addiction. Very sad.

If you're reading but hesitant to post, please remember that one of the alternative outcomes is death. It doesn't have to be that way. The SR community saved my life. We all have to fight it ourselves, but no one has to fight it alone.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, ArtFriend. I am sorry for his family. No doubt, your friend suffered physically, mentally and emotionally; alcoholism is such an insidious disease.

Very tragic and, as LBrain said, so unnecessary. It is a stark reminder to us of what alcohol can do to us; we DON'T have to go there.

So sad. So unnecessary. Such a reminder of where I could end up if I ever pick up again.

Sorry about your friend, ArtFriend. It really puts things in perspective, it's not a game.
