Smile all over the place and it is wearing me out

one minute i am fine, next thing i know i am hanging from the ceiling, waking up from sleep in the middle of the night just feeling like i was going 90 mph and hit brick wall

day 21, and i feel kinda down from all this, someone please tell me this gets better, goes away, that sobriety is really better

i am very good at compartmentalizing things, but i feel that i need to see this here and now for what it is and hopefully accept it as a building block in my new and better sober life

thanks to all

Hugs! Trish

It absolutely gets better 439. 21 days is a great accomplishment, but you are still early on in your journey. It took me several weeks to start getting back into a pattern of regular sleep.

Make sure you are getting enough to eat and try to do something relaxing before bed at night, that helped me a lot.

It definitely gets better Trish!!

Years of drinking I guess can't be healed in a matter of weeks, the body needs time to adjust!!

Hang in there!!

Two steps forward one step backwards is still moving in the right direction. Keep a positive outlook. Bad days last a max of 24 hours!

These episodes are normal. Pull through and you will be stronger. Cry it out, yell... It's ok to feel, to actually feel. Remember this will pass. Flex those sober muscles!!!

This is one big reason why I'll never drink again.

That first month was realllllllllly difficult.

It does get better, but it does take time.

Right there with you!! I'm at day 23! Still can't sleep through the night, wake up all figgitty, drives me crazy! I will tell you, personally for me, the meetings give me strength and energy and hope and everything I need. I'm also really letting myself open up to the higher power. I started listening to K-Love, Christian music station and I'm telling you it gives me so much strength and courage.

It will get better but it does take time. Your body is healing and your mind is re-awakening.

Herbal supplements like melatonin and valerian root can help with sleep problems. You'll want to find some activities to occupy your time. Rediscover some old hobbies or maybe find some new ones, anything to keep busy. I've learned to love reading and watching movies again. I will start rediscovering the great outdoors when the snow finally melts.

For me, the best part of sobriety is regaining my self respect. March 4 will be my first full year of sobriety but it took me 2 1/2 years to get here. You're on your way to a new life, a new beginning. Consider it an adventure and enjoy every day.

I like using a sauna to relax.
