First posted on day 3, now it's day 6

The longest I’ve gone since the late 90s was 7 days and it was torturous. I thought I’d never be able to do it. Why am I doing better this time? I don’t know or care. I’ve had no cravings to this point or serious withdrawal symptoms; I’m just dealing with the sleep and exhaustion issues which are improving. I think I can do this. It just feels different this time around.

It felt different for me, too, on the like hundreth time I quit.
Something clicked. I've been sober since. I wish the same for you.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, everyone. Now, on day 7, still going strong. I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve actually tried to stop over the years. I did, however, wake up a thousand days swearing it was my last day.

My wife hugged me out of nowhere last night and got emotional when she told me how proud she was of me.

That's so nice about your wife, Tom. It's great to have support & encouragement. Day 7 is something to celebrate - those first few are rough.
