Time to move forward
Time to move forward
I haven't been on Sober Recovery in close to 3 years. During that time, I thought I was keeping my drinking under control, after all, I hadn't blacked out recently. However, my work was cut back from full time to 4/5's time - a big cut when you are the sole income earner. And worse, I knew it was direct retaliation for being the union local's president.
What I am truly grateful for, is that since the beginning of 2012, during the three of my kids got married within a twelve month period, We sold the house we had lived in for 28 years and moved. Then my youngest child moved out (I was really sad to about that, but glad she is happy). Then we had 4 grandchildren - truly a blessing. Then my dad died six months ago, and since then I have been drinking quite heavily. No blackouts, but I knew/know I was out of control again. So on January 29th - my birthday - I decided it was time to get my act together, and stop wallowing in self pity.
And here I am, two weeks sober...
Thanks for listening.

Sorry about your loss. But glad you made it back. Some don't.
But happy for you for all the good things.
As you may know by now, alcohol won't make anything better.
Welcome back. And take it one day at a time, you can do it again.
