Feeling guilty
I feel guilty when I see a hot chick walking by me in the mall.
No, actually I don't. Because I never act on it.
As long as it's just something that happens along - a fleeting thought - I wouldn't worry about it. If it is constantly on your mind and driving you nuts, then I think it requires further investigation.

Just a normal part of addiction and it happens to just about everyone. Your mind doesn't just "forget" about drinking - but remember that they are merely thoughts. Coming here to talk it through is a great idea.

This hits the spot for me. I have temporary thoughts about drinking. I surf them and they go away. Sometimes they are stronger, I then play the tape until the end. The inevitable resulting disaster of drinking always brings back my resolve to not touch a drop.
I think its normal to think about drinking in early recovery. In fact some people simply observe their cravings as just that called, urge surfing.
I think feeling guilty is a normal response to thinking about engaging in a behavior we are not proud of, but I think its also important to forgive ourselves for our prior transgressions. Especially since you are not acting on your thoughts, you really should give yourself a pat on the back. Its not always easy to do the right thing.

Thinking about a drink when you are used to drinking is sort of unavoidable, the brain does what it's been wired to do. Could take a nap! Always sound advice. Or find a tiger, and run away from it! That's somewhat less sound advice.
Seems like a lot of people are wracked by drinking-related guilt. The nice part for me about sobriety was finally having my actions line up with my values -- clown no more!
If it doesn't warm up soon I am holding my breath until summer gets here . .

Whenever I think about drinking, my mind soon goes to how to improve my sobriety, how to improve my money game, how to improve my clothes, my shoes, my life, my family, my friends, my job, my skills, my business. So whenever those thoughts I would think about something else. Don't beat yourself up. It happens. Booze is powerful
