3 week vacation

Well, it's a wrap. I've worked hard the last few months, and today I'm leaving the office after an 11 hour day on my 9th day in a row worked. In the past 10 years of work I've only taken 1 one-week destination holiday, so this feels surreal. Today while cleaning out my desk drawers while tidying up, I stumbled across the over-the-counter pill bottles that used to be a life line to deal with the almost unbearable sinus headaches from being hung over and dehydrated. It made me feel so grateful for sobriety knowing that I don't have to worry about feeling like that anymore.

My vacation involves a big change in routine that will involve 17 hours of flying in each direction with access to free alcohol, hot & sunny beach weather, and a lot of food experiences. I feel solid in my sobriety and am not overly fearful I'll give up sobriety while I am on holidays, but I do plan on sticking a bit closer to SR because I know that the change of routine and the relaxation of holidays could give my AV some new opportunities to challenge me.

I place a lot of faith in the power of SR as a support system, so if you folks can bear with me I'll probably be checking in fairly regularly to set up accountabilities for myself before long flights, a day at the beach, etc.

Thanks everyone.

Sounds great Lance...I'm planning a long holiday when I hit the big 50 in a couple of years. You're smart to remain vigilant. I lost a nice stretch of sobriety a few years ago while on a beautiful beach holiday. Looks like alcohol is not invited to be a part of your journey and that's excellent. Safe travels and I look forward to seeing you check in!
