Major cravings

I've been sober since the middle of December and I experienced the worst cravings ever yesterday. It was a mixture of impending doom after a hard night of drinking and gut wrenching anxiety. It's probably one of the worst feelings ever. Today they aren't so bad and I know they will lessen the longer I stay sober.

I just bought a pair of New Balance running shoes on Amazon yesterday and am going to start walking in the mornings. Hopefully this will help with the cravings a bit. How long did it take to get rid of the cravings and short-term memory for you all? Thanks!

The cravings will diminish for sure. It took about a month for me.

I applaud you buying the New Balance shoes and starting to walk. I can't tell you how much walking saved me in so many ways. For me, it was right after supper when I really wanted to drink. I started taking long walks and I've never stopped. Of course it helped me feel good physically. It helped me reconnect with my neighborhood and my neighbors. And, my husband almost always goes with me and that gives us time to really talk and listen to each other. I can't recommend walking enough.

Hi Anna! It's been over a year since I exercised and I have gained about 30lbs since and I recently got my blood work done and found out I had high glucose levels. Also, my vitamin d and b-12 levels were low. I've begun taking the vitamins and am starting to eat healthier too. I'm hoping the walking along with diet will help me with the alcohol cravings and depression.

Exercise is one of the best cures for cravings for me! It has been instrumental in my abstinence.
