My first AA Meeting

Hello everyone,

Went to my First meeting!! Bought the big book today! We read a chapter in the book. Crazy how we can relate to the stories, like you wrote it. Anyways, it was pretty scaring, being in a room with people you don't know. When they ask people tell us what u think or how u relate to the chapter, I was feeling my anxiety kicking in. When it came all the way around to me, I told them my name and my addiction.. But I just broke down and cried.

I got some numbers, and I am going to go to some other meeting, Friday will be the women night, and Sunday will be the big inners.

Tomorrow will be my 7th day of being sober, hope I become over this anxiety. Do not like how this feels.

Jen

The anxiety is normal. Some of us just have more anxiety in social situations. Try not to stress about it, and great job on one week!

Dont feel discourage, My first AA meeting all I could do was stare at the door tryinging diligently not to stand up and sprint out of it. And I was alsoo shaking so bad I got more coffee on the floor than I did in my mouth. It subsided though and I got to where I looked forward to them. Hang in there!

Congratulations.
A few of the things I heard in my anxiety at my first meeting was “KEEP COMING and WE DON’T DRINK EVEN IF OUR A$$ FALLS OFF.”

That was a long time ago but true for today also.

BE WELL
