5 days sober
5 days sober
Hello Everyone,
My name is Jen, I have been married for almost 16 years, have two kids the age 4 and 14. I don't have a job, so I watch my 4 year old everyday. I have realize I am an alcoholic.
I had my first drink of beer when I was in 3rd grade
I had my first house party and doing other drugs when I was 15
I had my first time going to a home to get help when I was 16
age 17, my parents decided to move to Indiana from California, graduated at Carmel High from Indiana
got married in 1999, built our house, got my college degree in Business. Everything was going well...
Until 2005,2008, and Feb 3rd 2015, got the cops called on me and my alcohol count was .0195... Blackouts, don't remember a lot of things.
This is what woke me up, and I need help and feel like I am not the only one out there.
Thanks Jen

Hi and welcome Jen
You are very definitely not the only one out there - there's a lot of support and understanding here - I'm really glad you found us
read around and post as much as you like - see what others are doing and ask as many questions as you need to

Welcome! I'm new here also, however it seems to already be helping.
Everyone seems really supportive and caring.
You're right, you are not the only one out there that needs help. But it's good you found this place.

Welcome Jen - nope not the only one. I have kids 7-13, have a job and am also an alcoholic. Used to pray for bedtime so I could have some undistrubed drinking time.
Started when I ws young also - kept progressing. Hiding vodka around the house and drank a lot of wine. your brain might try to tell you that you can "have just one" but you can't. I stopped and tried to have just one now and then and was back worse then before. Stay here - stay clean and give hugs to the 4 year old.

Congrats Jen. Everyday sober is a win! You are not alone. So many people from all walks of life struggle with alcohol. Our struggles whether similar or different all have the same common denominator.....we can't have alcohol..AT ALL. I admitted today, after another blackout that I am an alcoholic and I want to stop drinking. I've been on and off the wine for years. I am a wife, a mother, a professional and an alcoholic...joined Sober Recovery today and attended my first AA meeting. I was so scared to go but after the meeting I was so encouraged and happy to be with people who understand our struggle. Stay on SR and go to AA...all the best!!
