Day 6 - Never forget this feeling

I've made a pledge to post every day during my first 90 days. I hope I don't annoy anyone but I need something to remain accountable to and something that reminds me of how I feel today. I've never felt worse for what I put my family through but at the same time I've never been more committed to being substance free for the rest of my life.

Post away. If you feel like it is helping to keep you sober, then it IS!

Congrats on Day 6. Keep it going!

Don't say you'll be sober the rest of your life - that's too much work. Just be sober today. You'll forget how you feel after a few weeks, trust me. I think posting here is a great idea, kinda like 90 meetings in 90 days. Go back and read your posts when you think you want to use or drink - I had to make a list of things I was going to do before I ever drink again, one of them is reading my earlier steps (step 1 especially) because I never want to feel that way again. But we do minimize it over time.

You might want to join the folks on the "24-Hour-Club" too. It's a great way to keep oneself accountable. You just post your local time and a pledge to stay dry for the next 24 hours. It works for me.

And, welcome aboard!

For some addicts and alcoholics the memory of the terrible things we did while using/drinking is deterrent enough to keep us clean. Some...I'd say few. What works is a strong program of recovery, learning to cope with life without our drug of choice, and embracing a substance free life.

Because the insanity of addiction will make you forget the horrors...or drive you to use in order to forget your regrets.

You mentioned in a previous post about immersing yourself in AA/NA. I'd suggest you don't delay.

Thank you. I'm struggling today for some reason. I'm going to a meeting on lunch but my brain is trying to make me forget the horrors that I put myself and my loved ones through. This disease is truly insanity.
