idk how all this works?
I have terrible anxiety with going to meetings or seeing a counselor so i figured this might be a good first step. I have been just battling all of this myself and it really gets to be overwhelming.

Hi. I suffer from anxiety, which drove me to drink, which then fueled my anxiety and so on and so on......
I too feel greatly intimidated by groups of people and the idea of sitting with a counselor made me break out in a sweat. Each person is very different of course, but I'll tell you the three things that FINALLY helped me make that call to see a counselor.
1. I read some self help. I didn't love every book, but it helped me begin to understand anxiety.
2. I stayed busy and made to do lists, which I then checked off as I completed. And simple stuff too, like vacuumed, dishes, bills, walks. Nothing shuts my anxious voice up like telling it all the things I accomplished.
3. I decided to accept things as they are. It's work, to accept how I am or what I did. But when I get super anxious about a thing, I just say ok, this is how it is right now. I can put it on my list to work on, I can be better in the future, but I won't ruin my present time with it.
It's a process, some days these things work better than others. But the most important thing is to be trying. Stay strong. I know you can do it.
