Good Morning! Today marks one month that I signed in to this site for the first time. In that small time frame I have learned so much from so many of you. Some of you have really touched my heart with your stories and words. It has really helped me to remember where I am today and where I used to be...lost, fearful, hurting.

Today is a bittersweet day for us. It is the birthday of our oldest daughter, she is 14! We can't believe how fast she has grown and what a beautiful young lady she is; however, today is also the anniversary of the death of my husband's nephew. He died at the exact moment we were singing happy birthday to our then 7 year old daughter. He was speeding and lost control of his car, he wrapped it around a tree and killed himself (17), his girlfriend (16) and his best friend (18).

This event was just the beginning of what was to follow...my AH had a hard time processing this death as he knew this was his brother's only child and that his brother would eventually want to kill himself. What we didn't expect was his mother to become ill. She died a year and two weeks later. And as predicted.....his brother did find a way to get himself killed almost two years later.

These chain of events lead my AH to some pretty heavy drinking. It had been some really sad times for us, times I thought were behind us.

On January 1st of this year I decided to join this wonderful group. Although I have been to Alanon before there is something pulling me back to this site. I've never laid eyes on any of you but have developed a huge bond with a lot of you. And because of that I have been able to stop focusing on my AH, who is actually doing better than me, and start focusing on me! I have realized that all this time I had been wasting so much time making MYSELF miserable!

Wow, your family has been through so much. (((hugs))) I'm really glad you're finding the love and support you need here in SR so you can take better care of yourself.
