Greetings All
Hi everyone,
Just signed to the forums. I'm not an alcoholic, but I do drink regularly and want to give it up. I have genetic pre-dispotion to cancer, so want to do by best to avoid the big C by cutting alcohol out of my life.
Any advice or information on how to give it up would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome jmunns
if you want to quit drinking, this is a good place to be
I found the support and encouragement here really helped me turn my life around, and helped me find the strength to make the changes I needed to make.
Read around and post as much as you like - look at what other people are doing for recovery, and hopefully you'll find an approach that suits you
I'm glad you found us

Welcome to SR, jmunns.
If you are not an alcoholic or don't have a problem with drinking, giving up alcohol should be fairly easy. Maybe change your routine; add new activities - exercise, volunteer; avoid situations where you usually consume alcohol - happy hour after work, etc. Make your home an alcohol-free zone.
Glad you found SR. Good to see you taking proactive steps ton reduce your cancer risk.
