Day 1 yet again but shamed

Had my daughter over the last few days which has been lovely

She's 19 and knows I need to lose weight before my op at end of feb, so she's been trying to stop me from drinking anything. She babysat for us on wednesday and we went out to local pub for a meal, and drank with it. Didn't drink thursday, went to supermarket yesterday and bought 2 bottles of wine. She said you're a bit of an alcie aren't you..... I laughed it off and said if I was I would have had a drink before now...she said well a part alcie then....

I was horrified.

She was only joking but she doesn't know the extent of my drinking. We only got back in touch around 18 months ago.

I never want her to look at me and think I have a drink problem.

So that's it. No more. For both my children.

WELCOME BACK.

In the beginning I needed to repeat many times “ If I don’t pick up the first drink one minute at a time in a row, I won’t have to TRY to get sober AGAIN.”

It works if we work it.

BE WELL

Hi Mavis - welcome back.

A declaration is good, but I think most of us need to work on a plan to stay sober...there's a lots of twists and turns in the journey, especially in the early days.

any ideas yet?

Wonderful that you are committed to sobriety. What are you going to do differently?

Same ? here.

I'm so glad you keep coming back, but something needs to change. What's it gonna be?

Think about it.

I remember the same thing from my son

On close to a week in but I remember when my son said he wanted me to quit drinking for his birthday.
Of all the things he could of asked for. That made up my mind then and there. You can do this.
But remember you are doing it for you first and foremost.
Good luck!!!!!!
